Autism Volunteer Opportunities

At Autism Way Out West, we are looking for passionate, energetic, and caring volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of children, teens, and adults with autism in the West Valley — including Goodyear, Buckeye, Avondale, Surprise, and surrounding communities.

Whether you have a few hours a month or special skills you’d like to share, there’s a place for you here. Volunteer opportunities range from hands-on event support to behind-the-scenes help — all of which are vital to creating inclusive, family-friendly experiences for our comminuty who is affected by autism.

Do you have experience writing grants or researching funding opportunities? Help us secure resources to expand our autism support programs in the Phoenix West Valley. Your skills in grant writing and nonprofit fundraising can directly impact the number of families we serve in Goodyear, Buckeye, Avondale, and Surprise.

Grant Writers

If you love bringing people together, we need you! Plan and coordinate autism-friendly community events like sensory-safe movie days, fun runs, and family resource fairs. Event planners play a key role in helping our nonprofit reach more families across the West Valley.

Energetic Event Planners

Be part of the action! Assist at autism events in Goodyear, Buckeye, Avondale, and Surprise by welcoming families, running activity booths, or providing support to children during activities. Your presence helps create a welcoming, safe environment for everyone.

Volunteers at Events

Even if you can’t attend an event, you can still make a difference by sponsoring a runner or walker in one of our fundraising events. Your sponsorship supports autism programs and community engagement opportunities across the Phoenix West Valley.

Sponsor a Run/Walker

Perfect for volunteers who enjoy being part of a team! Help transform a venue before our events and restore it afterward. This essential work allows our nonprofit to keep costs low and focus resources on autism support services.

Set-Up and Clean-Up Crews

Be a calming, encouraging presence for a child or teen with autism during events. This role is perfect for compassionate individuals interested in autism peer support and helping children feel safe in social situations.

Buddy System Support

If you have experience in education, therapy, or autism support services, help us lead social skills groups, parent workshops, or training sessions. These programs make a real difference in the autism community of the West Valley.

Lead or Assist with Workshops

Help spread the word about our autism programs by delivering flyers to schools, libraries, community centers, and local businesses in Goodyear, Buckeye, Avondale, and Surprise.

Distribute Flyers or Resources

Represent Autism Way Out West at community markets, school fairs, and public events. This is a great way to engage with the public, share our mission, and connect with families in need of support.

Host Awareness Tables

If you’re creative, we’d love your help designing event flyers, social media graphics, and newsletters. Your skills in digital media for nonprofits will help us reach more people and grow our mission.

Design Flyers, Social Posts, or Newsletters

Organize raffles, silent auctions, or online fundraisers to support our autism events and programs. Fundraising volunteers help ensure we have the resources to serve our community year-round.

Fundraising Support

Help with behind-the-scenes tasks like writing thank-you notes, managing event sign-ups, or assisting with our email newsletter. These small acts make a big difference for our nonprofit operations.

Clerical Help

Assist in collecting, sorting, and distributing donations for families in need. Donations may include toys, books, or supplies for sensory-friendly activities.

Organize Donations

Help us connect with more families and volunteers by scheduling posts, sharing inspiring stories, and managing our Facebook and Instagram presence.

Social Media Support

Create and promote an online donation drive to collect books, toys, or sensory-friendly supplies for children with autism in the West Valley.

Run an Online Book or Toy Drive

Create a warm, supportive space for parents to connect and share experiences. These informal gatherings help reduce isolation and strengthen the autism community in Goodyear, Buckeye, Avondale, Surprise, and beyond.
